Wildcat Silver Corporation is a Vancouver-based mineral exploration company with an 80% interest in the Hermosa Silver Project, located in Santa Cruz County, Arizona. The Project is located 15 miles northeast of the City of Nogales and approximately 9 miles south of the Town of Patagonia.
The Hermosa Project encompasses an area that is roughly 9 square miles within the historic Harshaw and Patagonia Mining Districts of the Patagonia Mountains. The property spans eight patented mining claims on private property for a total 154 acres and another 311 unpatented mining claims in the Coronado National Forest totaling another 5,923 acres.
To date, Wildcat Silver has spent in excess of $15 million dollars to enhance the value of the project and move it to closer to production. These expenditures have helped Wildcat Silver to increase Hermosa’s total silver resource base more than fivefold since its first estimate in 2007. The Project currently hosts an indicated mineral resource of 171.3 million ounces of silver plus an inferred mineral resource of 98.6 million ounces of silver.
During the exploration phase, Wildcat Silver has employed up to 50 workers and contractors to advance the Project. Wildcat Silver believes it can increase the resource further and expects to deliver an updated mineral resource and preliminary economic assessment (PEA) in the third quarter of 2012.
The Hermosa project is well positioned to become a leading silver producer in the United States. It may also become the only producer of manganese in the US, which is a critical component for the steel industry. The proposed mining project will also produce zinc, copper and gold.
